I posted these pictures on Facebook several years ago but never blogged about it.
Do you have lots of Lego bricks laying around? If so, you can build your own soap mold!
You can make the mold as large or as small as you want. I built a mold that held a 2 lb. batch of soap. You can use any soap recipe.
The mold does not need to be lined or coated with anything. At least in my experience…
Pour your soap when it is at a medium to thick trace. I don’t know if the mold will leak…but don’t risk it. Having the Lego base helps.
Here are some pictures!
This is an awesome idea, and it’s right on time. To convert to flat square, to rectangle to column. Thank you for your ingenuity!
As a mom to four boys I LOVE this idea! Thanks for sharing!
What a Brilliant Idea using Lego for a mould Love it. Also like your soap designs great use of colour. One of my customers sent me the link to your site. She just bought moulds from me … before seeing your mould,,, Phew ,, 🙂
Works great with glycerin soap, too!
This idea is so fun and cool! I love that the soap ends up with an impression from the Legos. You could make some awesome kid soaps with this. =)
This… is the most amazing thing Ive ever seen….
I love this idea, I will go to the toy store and build one. what are the measurements for this box? and how were you able to release the legos from the sides and bottom?
The soap seemed to come out so perfectly! Mine always gets stuck to its hard plastic told and was going to buy a silicon to try instead. How do you get yours to come out so clean!?
Hi Sara! It could be a recipe thing? Not sure. Mine didn’t stick at all though.
I cannot wait to try this! My son is nearly 17; I’ve been putting off getting rid of his Legos because I refuse to admit he is growing up and now I don’t have to!!
What a great idea, Amanda. Your timing is impeccable, because I was thinking about ordering a tall, skinny mold for a specific batch of soap – but will try this instead!!! (My son doesn’t play with his Lego any more, and it seems a shame not to use it!)
That’s funny you use Legos, cause would have never thought to make a mold from them, cause I have been using Legos to support my silicon molds, cause I take my small one pound silicon mold and built my Legos around,so it keep the sides from bowing out..now not only do Legos support, but they can be the mold…I love multipurpose items
Where did you get a 1lb silicon mold??? I have been looking fit and asking everyone where to get one!!
I’m so trying this out as soon as iIcan find a base!!! Very cool
wow!! What a thought!! That is sooooo cool.
That is SO COOL!
Great! With all the legos left behind at my house from the grandsons’ visits, I should have enough to make a soap mold in little to no time! 😀
